Tuition fees paid in the first semester (May) and second semester (October) will be exempted as per (5) to (10) below. Applicants may apply for a partial or full tuition exemption for each semester, depending on their family financial situation.
Students who apply for tuition exemption will be deferred from collecting tuition fees until the exemption amount is finalized.

(1) Reduction of tuition fees, etc. under the new higher education study support system 

・Target grades: 4th year regular course students and above, major course students

This system is for students from households exempt from resident tax or equivalent, and large families (households supporting three or more children). Depending on the support category, full or partial tuition fees may be reduced or waived. Students must meet the certification requirements (academic performance, household financial situation) for the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) scholarship. In principle, applications are also required for scholarships.

(2) Tuition exemption at the National Institute of Technology 

- Tuition exemption due to disaster etc.

This exemption system applies to students who are deemed to have great difficulty paying tuition fees in the event that their financial burden dies or they or their financial burden suffers a storm or flood disaster within six months prior to the exemption calculation date (October 1st for the second semester). Depending on the family's financial situation, half or the full amount of tuition fees may be exempted.
In principle, if you are a fourth-year regular course student or above, or if you are a major course student, you will need to apply for the exemption and exemption under the new system (4) at the same time as the scholarship. However, students who are clearly not eligible for reduction or exemption under the new system (1) may apply for this system only.
