Merchant Marine Department XNUMXth grade

Q1

How did you find out about Toba Commercial Marine College of Technology before enrolling?

・I researched schools that have a lot of international exchange and found Toba Shosen.

・I loved the sea, so I looked into maritime schools and found Toba Shosen.

・It all started because my older brother used to go to Toba Shosen.

Q2

Why did you decide to enroll in the Merchant Marine Department at Toba National College of Technology?

I love ships, so I went to the public exhibition of Toba Maru.

Q3

Have you ever been surprised after entering the school?

There was no staff room, there were a lot of general subjects in the lower grades, and it was more science-oriented than I expected.I was also surprised that the class was taught in Kansai dialect.

Q4

Please tell us what you enjoyed and what was difficult during the onboard training.

When driving a ship on a night voyage, it is difficult to know whether the light around you is the ship's electricity, house lights, or what kind of light it is.It's hard to get used to it because the only information you have is light.

Q5

Please tell us what you were most happy about in your school life so far.

The most fun I have is dancing at the Maritime Science Festival, doing silly things with my friends during training on the Toba Maru, and living in the dormitory.

Q6

Please tell us what was the most difficult or frustrating thing about your school life so far.

When I was in XNUMXrd grade, I found Geobiography and Navigation to be difficult.During the class on global calculations, it was difficult to do calculations while feeling seasick during the onboard training.

Q7

Please tell me about any interesting or recommended classes.

Instructor Kitamura's Geonautical Navigation. It's fun when you can solve a problem instead of it being difficult.

Q8

Who is your recommended teacher?

Physical education instructor Yamada is friendly and easy to talk to.
For general subjects, I have Professor Nakahira in history, and Professor Kojima is the easiest to talk to even if it's just my first time.He is a good instructor as any instructor.

*For a long time, teachers at our school have been called instructors.

Q9

Please tell me what was good and bad about choosing the Merchant Marine Department.

I have nothing but good things to say.Even if you get a job, if you work hard for XNUMX months, you can get XNUMX months off, so you can enjoy summer vacation every year, and it's easy to save money because you don't have to pay utility bills while you're sailing.I have a lot of work to do so I don't get bored.

Q10

Please tell me why you chose employment (advancement) as your career path.

・Since graduating from university didn't give me any advantage in getting a job, I decided to get a job.

・I was unsure whether to go to university or not, but the company I wanted to work for was recruiting, so I decided to go for a job.

・I couldn't get a job at the Japan Maritime Education Organization without graduating from a technical college, so I decided to go to university.

Q11

Please give a message to students who are applying to Toba National College of Technology.

If you want to enter the Merchant Marine Department, English and math are important.Don't throw away your math notebook!Since there are calculations on a global scale, it will be difficult to study if you are not good at basic arithmetic. It's also important to find ways to relax in a short amount of time.
