- A training ship equipped with disaster support functions and training of advanced maritime personnel who will play an active role in the next generation -
- 1. Wheelhouse and engine control room mock-up inspection
-
The wheelhouse and engine control room mockup inspection and the fourth meeting were held at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Maritime Systems Co., Ltd. (Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture) from November 2023th to 11th, 8.
First, we inspected the wheelhouse mockup (full-scale model) and the engine control room. Since we had previously inspected the wheelhouse mockup in August 5, the inspection went relatively smoothly.
This is the first time that a mock-up of an engine control room has been made.
On the first day, mock-ups were reviewed by people associated with our school.
The Toba Maru replacement ship will adopt an "information integrated console" as part of the "SMART-Ship" concept, and will have a "totally enclosed bridge" just like the current Toba Maru. This allows the bridge to be spacious and large numbers of people can participate in training, and training can be conducted safely even in bad weather.
In the wheelhouse, the chart section and radio section were reviewed and the positions of each monitor were determined.
This ensures visibility and creates a neater feel.
The engine room provides space (workshop) for various maintenance tasks.
This allows for a more practical training experience.
In the engine control room, we have rearranged many of the devices and displays, making them more efficient and easier to use, even in the limited space. - 2. Fourth meeting
-
On the second day, we held meetings in the morning and afternoon.
We divided into two groups, the deck section and the engine section, and discussed and adjusted every detail. - 3. Final confirmation of the wheelhouse and engine control room mockup
-
In the morning of the final day (the third day), we checked the corrections we made on the first day. Since we couldn't make any changes after this, we checked every detail, such as the location of the outlets and the meter.
In the afternoon, a tour of the fourth ship in the series was given to faculty and staff from Toyama National College of Technology and other colleges of technology.
The tour was organised to improve the training ships of maritime technical colleges by allowing participants to see the mock-up of the replacement ship for Toba Maru and the (new) Yuge Maru which is currently under construction.
