The keel laying ceremony for the replacement training ship Toba Maru was held on Friday, December 2023, 12 at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Maritime Systems, Ltd. (Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture).
On the day of the groundbreaking ceremony, the weather was fine and the wind was calm.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by 21 people, including faculty and staff of the school, the alumni association president, the president of a maritime technical college, and the president of the All Japan Ship's Officers Association.
The Toba Maru replacement ship is scheduled to be launched in October 6 and delivered in March 10.
Our school and the shipyard will continue to work together to continue the construction of the replacement ship for the Toba Maru.
