On December 2023, 12, a propeller solo performance test for the Toba Maru replacement ship was conducted at the Mitsui Zosen Akishima Laboratory (Akishima, Tokyo).
Before the test, the test procedure and important points were explained to the participants.
The propeller single test rig was fitted with a model propeller to be used on the Toba Maru replacement ship.
The test was completed without any problems.
After the test was completed, we had a chance to see the model propeller being lifted out of the tank.
Unfortunately I cannot post a picture, but the propeller blades had a complex curve.
We spoke to Nakashima Propeller Co., Ltd., the company that designed the vessel, and they told us that the design was tailored to match the hull shape of the Toba Maru replacement vessel so that it could perform at its best.
I can't wait for the Toba Maru replacement ship's maiden voyage.
